JUST LAUNCHED - New Charitable Project - Sci-fi minis & terrain
over 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 29, 2021 at 10:02:05 AM

Hello Wonderful Backers!

It's time to raise some money for charity, and get some sweet sci-fi STLs in the process. Volume 4 of my charitable Community (Treasure)Chest series is titled "TITUS X" and features support-free sci-fi minis, facade walls, and scenics.

If you aren't familiar with my Community (Treasure)Chest series, it's an ongoing project I've been running to raise some money for charity in a fun crowdfunding model, to. The first 3 volumes were fantasy, and this one is sci-fi, and the content will go perfect with what you got from this Kickstarter.  It's pay-what-you-can ($5 min) with 40% going to charity, the STLs available immediately, and many many stretch goals.

Check it out here and lend your support! https://fundrazr.com/ec3d-treasure-chest-volume-4

Novus Landing, the follow-up Kickstarter to The Ignis Quadrant, is Live!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 08, 2021 at 12:31:41 AM

Hello Ignis Quadrant supporters, I hope you are well! The long-awaited follow-up to this project, Novus Landing, is finally live on Kickstarter - it's full of even more minis, scenery, and vehicles (spaceships!) with the same usability, aesthetic, and ease of printability that was included in The Ignis Quadrant. We're covering all kinds of new areas, but primarily filling out a seedy backwater spaceport. So expect casinos, cantinas, armed checkpoints, cargo bays, smugglers, slums, and much much more.

The project is already funded, and we're now unlocking the (many) stretch goals. As you know, Kickstarter pricing is drastically discounted from retail/late-pledge pricing, and this project is only running for 25 days, so come join the party at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ecaroth/novus-landing-3d-printable-tabletop-models

New Comic KS Live! + upcoming Novus Landing KS

The Ignis Quadrant Comic Series

Hello folks, I hope all is well! I wanted to alert you that the Kickstarter for the Ignis Quadrant comic series just launched! It's a labor of love, full of humor, great art, and a fun sci-fi story. There's some characters from the original Ignis Quadrant 3D kickstarter, plus some from the upcoming Novus Landing 3D kickstarter.

As part of this project, we created a completely free prequel #0 issue to introduce some of the characters, art style, humor, etc. Even if you're not traditionally a comic reader, I encourage you to check it out as it's tons of fun!

If you enjoy it, you can check out the Kickstarter for Issue #1 RIGHT HERE.

Novus Landing 3D Printable Kickstarter

My next big 3D printable project is just around the corner - Novus Landing picks up where the Ignis Quadrant left off, with tons of scifi minis, creatures, terrain/scatter and more - I took all your feedback from this project and created one that I'm even more proud of for Novus Landing. Huge cantina scenes, weapons dealers, space ports, playable starships, and much are are coming your way. I'm hoping to get that project live in 2 weeks or so, so stay tuned for another update on that!

Cyber Dragon Paint Stream [TONIGHT] + Comic, Game, and future KS!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Jul 31, 2020 at 09:38:09 AM

Hello folks, hope your printers are happily humming along and churning out some scifi minis! Wanted to share a few updates with you.

Scifi Dragon Paint

Our very own Ryan @ Cephalopod Studios (who created the custom paint set for the KS, and painted all the pretty minis for the photos) recently printed up the huge cyber dragon on his ender 3 and is going to be painting it live on his twitch stream tonight @ 7pm CST. This is gonna be one heck of a fun one to watch, and I'm sure it will turn out awesome! If you want to tune in and watch him do his magic (and ask him any painting questions) check out the Cephalopod Studios Twitch stream HERE.

Comic Book + Game

I've had so me much fun building the characters and world for The Ignis Quadrant, then Terra Conflict (my recent space ship scale KS) and the soon-to-be-released Novus Landing (a continuation of Ignis Quadrant). I've slowly been developing a world and a story in my mind, and have fallen in love with the characters - So, I have decided to broaden EC3D's product spectrum and am writing/producing a full length serial comic with the world/characters of the Ignis Quadrant!

The main character is the space cowboy "Montana Jones". The comic and world is influenced by the likes of Firefly, Star Wars, Space Operas, and much more. I found some of the best artists in the industry to work with and we have the first issue almost complete, and I'm in love!

I don't know how much of my 3d printing / tabletop audience is into comics but I'm hoping that other folks will enjoy the comic and also help to bring more people into gaming who haven't had a chance to try it.  It's full of (tasteful) adult humor and comedy, plenty of action (I'm a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu so I'm bringing lots of realistic hand to hand combat to the story), and a very interesting cast of characters and story line. Here's the cover for the first issue, and a sample of the first page to show the art style and quality:

In addition, Ryan and I are working on a complete skirmish game using characters/models from the same world (including Ignis Quadrant) - the game will use it's own short-story comic intros for scenarios, have unlimited replay-ability and be very story driven, unlink anything you've played before (using minis you already own for the most part!). Ryan is nailing it with the rules development, playtesting, and scenarios. Just for funsies, here's a work in progress of one of the character cards (pic will be replaced by illustration most likely):

The comic will be available in the next month I'm hoping (issue #1), with Novus Landing KS for 3d printables launching in a few months, and the skirmish game early next year (hopefully). Both these venture are outside the "normal" realm of what I've done before with EC3D but I'm very excited for them both, and am having an absolute blast on both projects, and think people will really enjoy them. What do you folks think? Any comic readers out there, or skirmish game players, who have feedback or think they'll get into these projects?
